Sayre, PA (December 15, 2017) – Guthrie accepted a check today from Dandy Mini Marts (DMM) for $19,313.45 which will support local women being treated at Guthrie who have breast cancer. The donation was raised in October from the annual “Dandy Pink Cups for the Cure” campaign and will be given to The Guthrie Clinic Breast Care Fund.
The Guthrie Clinic Breast Care Fund is used to help breast cancer patients receiving treatment at Guthrie with the cost of medication, post-surgical supplies, diagnostic testing, and other items not covered by insurance. Funding can also be used to help with transportation costs to and from appointments.
Dr. Joseph Scopelliti, Guthrie President and CEO, said: “I am very pleased to accept these funds on behalf of Guthrie. This initiative encourages our local community to play an active role in breast cancer awareness, and these proceeds will help make a big difference in the lives of some of our patients who need it the most.”
Randy Williams, DMM President said: “We are thrilled that together with the community we are able to provide over $19,000 in charitable donations to such a worthy organization that serves local women, aiding in their fight against breast cancer. Dandy Mini Marts are committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work. We take great pride in being able to support the Guthrie Clinic Breast Care Fund in their efforts to help those in need.”
The “Dandy Pink Cups for the Cure” campaign takes place every October to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The cups are available at all 64 Dandy locations across the Twin Tiers. During the month, Dandy donates a percentage from the purchase of each 20 oz. coffee sold in a Pink Cup. Since its inception in 2011, Dandy Pink Cups have raised over $70,000. Dandy Mini Marts selected Guthrie as the recipient of the funds based on their dedication to assist patients and provide vital health care across the same communities that Dandy serves.
